When I first obtained this book, knowing the level of skill and passion the authors have for the product and development, I thought this book would primary apply to developers. I was happy to learn that assumption was incorrect. This book has something for everyone to include those new to the application, consultants, solution architects, practice level directors, project managers, developers, and more. If you want to learn about working with some of the newer Microsoft Dynamics 365 features and applications then you will appreciate this book.Some of the things I enjoyed about the book: written in easy to understand terms, but with enough detail to perform the activities in the application while reading along; goes through areas of the application that people really want to learn about like the site map, app module designer, business rule designer, configure cognitive services, using learning path, using editable grids in applications, PowerApps, Azure extensions, using the Web AP, and also provides sample code. I enjoy this tome of steampunk style very much for the references on how to add detail and character to your masterpieces. However, it's an awful lot like any how-to book, showing you exactly the process of the author/artist, and leaving relatively little room for you to explore your own style.Unlike most how-to's it's a great source for art projects in different mediums you may not have tried before. The mixed media approach is described in great detail and is helpful in showing you how to make your own artwork look truly steampunk. The step-by-step for some of the multi-media processes is also greatly appreciated.Overall, it's a wonderful source for the aspiring steampunk artist.
I think that Mr. Marsocci could have added more items to draw and left us wanting more. This book is more of an overview of what Steampunk is about and less about drawing Steampunk. If you are new to Steampunk and need a definition with pictures, this is your book. BUT, you may want to buy it used for the money.
I have purchased every single book published from the Walter Foster Fantasy Underground Series. I highly recommend these books for anyone interested in Fantasy Artwork. They cover everything from Traditional Art Techniques to Digital.Clear and concise instruction's compliment the step by step tutorials and the illustrations contained within the pages of each volume are top notch and performed by some of the top fantasy artist.I myself refer to these books constantly as reference when creating my next Fantasy Illustration or Airbrush Mural. I really havent found any other books and trust me when I say "I have quite the collection" that cover this type of Artwork in such detail!!If your into Fantasy Art painting and illustration then you should definatley consider purchasing each and everyone of the books in this series for your reference library as they won't disapoint!!
The book, How to Draw Steampunk, is very informative and has wonderful illustrations and instructions. It gives great ideas how the mind works when "out there" and want to draw something out of the ordinary. I love the time period it covers and it amazed me to see that some of our forefathers actually did use this method of engineering and creating.
I recently learned of Steampunk and found it to be wildly interesting. Since I'm trying to draw some just for the heck of it, I thought this would be of great use. It has some good information in it, and some great example drawings, but, honestly, there are too few drawings/too many pages used on each drawing, that it didn't necessarily meet my expectations. However, it does give me some good ideas for use, so it has value.
Both of our boys (ages 9 and 13) are crazy into Steampunk. They LOVE this book. They had already created imaginary worlds, characters, drawings and costumes for their favorite characters (Japanese erasers). This book has definitely added to the magic! It's great that it starts out with basics and evolves from there.
The book is great. It took 15 business days for me to receive it which was a real drag, but I don't think that was the senders fault. I thought there would be a lot more people references for costume and outfit ideas but there was just one chapter on that. It is really informative and covers a lot of information. When you first open the book it discusses what Steampunk is and where it originates from. Most of the book gives you references for drawing mechanical steampunk items such as weapons, machinery, and everyday items turned steampunk. For each of these it shows you how to draw them step-by-step. There is also a lesson portion in the beginning that teaches you about basic perspective and drawing textures. A very well rounded book, therefore I gave 5 stars. I just wish it could have had even more drawing references and less pages about step-by-step drawing.
This book is both interesting and instructive. I don't know much about Steampunk culture but am interested in it from an artist's perspective. This book covers the art quite well, from the ideas behind it to the tools and techniques used to create it. Some of it is pretty basic, but the illustrations showing step-by-step creation of detailed drawings and paintings are useful and enjoyable. Even beginners can use and enjoy this. I'm happy with the book.
