Excellent! A clearly written, non-nonsense guide that is just what I needed. Excel isn't that bewildering once you start to get its basic concepts, which is just what this book does.

I was more hoping this would be a “how to” book. I learn by doing and this isn’t exactly a guide. It tells you what columns, rows, and cells are and what things you can put in the function bar, but no examples of anything are given. I thumbed through it, but without being able to experiment with different things, it honestly wasn’t a great help to me.

This slim book is really of no use, it doesn't even cover essential functions like rounding, and it says nothing about calculating a spreadsheet. Look elsewhere.

This was very helpful for someone with no excel experience. I am now able to understand the basic principles of excel.

I was attracted to this work of non-fiction because I was a battered wife for ten years. The fact that these events took place in the early 1900’s piqued my curiosity. I wondered how different things were in those days. This is the story of Margaret Claire Beutinger and her husband, Christof Beutinger. On Tuesday, July 11th, 1916, Margaret shot Christof in the bedroom of their large home in Essex County, New Jersey. Two of their daughters were witnesses to the crime. What followed provides a picture of how women were viewed in those early years of the twentieth century. Despite corroborated evidence of years of spousal abuse, Margaret was arrested and subsequently indicted for the murder of her husband. During their marriage she had borne seven children, and five had survived. At one point she had divorced Christof but under the advice of a priest and a nun, and perhaps pressure, she had reunited with him. Despite all his promises, Christof never gave up drinking, gambling, and his abusive behavior. Also, he exhibited cruelty toward their children. Shortly before she shot him, Margaret had purchased a gun which she kept under a pillow in her bedroom. The question that arose during her trial was whether she had premeditated the murder. While she had purchased the gun not long before firing the shots that killed her husband, years of abuse and fear for her life were certainly mitigating circumstances in acquiring a weapon to defend herself. The laws related to self-defense were specific. Did Margaret have any recourse other than shooting her husband? Could she have escaped? Margaret’s testimony regarding the event varied somewhat. She stated that Christof had entered the bedroom twice before she was driven to defend herself. The two little girls were asleep in the bed and woke when they heard their parents shouting. Margaret fired five shots into her husband. In one report she stated she had drawn the pistol from beneath her pillow, in another, she said she took it from her dresser. Perhaps the greatest challenge to Margaret’s freedom was the question of a woman’s rights. Did a woman have the right to her body or was she the property of her husband? At the time, only men were permitted on juries. This could be viewed as either an obstacle or a plus for the defendant. Certainly her years of abuse should have counted toward her defense. The abuse was exceedingly violent and there were numerous medical reports to substantiate her claims. The week before the incident Christof had beaten her enough to give her a black eye. But this trial wasn’t about marital abuse. It was also about women’s rights. The 19th amendment granting women the right to vote had not yet been ratified. This was the most interesting aspect of the book. I felt that the author did an excellent job of describing the social inequality of the day. There was evidence of the beginning shift in perceptions. Vivid descriptions of the torment Margaret experienced were presented. Her small children sat in the gallery behind the defense table. On the one hand, her perceived female fragility was highlighted. On the other hand, the right of a woman to her own body was put forth. The author investigates the complexities of the evidence, leaving the reader to draw her own conclusions. Was Margaret a cold-blooded killer or a wife driven to defend herself on fear of death? The author presents a multi-dimensional picture that is compelling.I recommend this book to anyone interested in the history of women’s rights, law in the early twentieth century, and spousal abuse.

This story is very tragic and quite commonplace during the time period. Mrs. Margaret Claire Beutinger suffered years of physical abuse at the hands of her cruel brute of a husband. Many times he had threatened to kill her. When she told him she had endured enough and had decided to divorce him, he began to assault her and she shot him dead. Of course she was charged with murder. Her first trial ended with a hung jury, but she was tried a second time.The story is told through the accounts of various newspapers of the time. Women were not supposed to harm men. The law said she should have run away! What, and wait until the next time, then run away again? What about her five children? If she was expected to submit to being murdered, didn't she have a right to protect her children?

An interesting book and, for the type of book it is, it is very well written. I did find it depressing, however. I would like to sample other writings of this author.

If I had wanted to read old newspaper accounts, I'd have gone to the library.

This has prospect for being a five-star book. The reason I rate it three stars is because it was mostly a compilation of old newspaper clippings with a brief narrative thrown in here and there.Yes, it is a true crime story, which makes it hard to write. As I began to read, I’d expected a little more of a narrative than who said what at what time, especially with Mr. Garrigues being a longtime journalist. For someone that hasn’t lived in that era, and loves to disappear in those times, I’d hoped for more of a painted picture of the times and the scene of the crime.George Garrigues provided a slight background of the troubled family life. With each instant of the murder to the trial, he provides the dates as well as the magazine articles he got the information from. In the end of the story, he offers his own opinion of what really happened in 1916 when a wife murdered her wealthy, extremely abusive husband. He also provides “where they are now” as movies tend to do, which proved to be interesting.When I first saw the name of the book, I wasn’t too crazy about the title. However, when I reconsidered, I decided that I loved the title.

great book with some pics not seen by me before, and I have seen a LOT lol . A few suggestions though. 1. Use darker ink on the captions; the type is at best 'gray' and hard to read. 2. Give better coverage of the GT 40 Mk IV (J) cars. There was only 1 page with a few pics, and no backstory at all. I realize Shelby did not have all that much involvement with the J cars at all, but sheesh, his connection to some of the cars in the later chapters was pretty tenuous as well, and you devoted more to the joke of a pickup truck than you did to the J cars. In short, more on significant cars and less on the silly Shelbys.

This is a great resource for Shelby Auto lovers. We got this book as a birthday present for my father in law, who is a Shelby Auto obsessive and he loves it! This book is a comprehensive documentation of Shelby efforts, not only his better known ones, but also, all of the side trips he made as well (such as Sunbeam Tiger, Viper, and Shelby Dodges to name a few.) The book is extremely well written and, according to my father in law, the narrative is both "gripping" and "fun." Furthermore, the book includes a wide array of fabulous pictures, both in black and white and color. I highly recommend this book, not only for new and established collectors of the marque, but also for anyone who has a more general interest in one of the greatest automotive success stories in America! It certainly is the "Complete" book of Shelby's as the name implies.

Hey, so I just got this book today and I went to look through it. great pictures and looks like a lot of cool stuff. but the reason I'm giving it 4 star is because the pages are backwards and upside down...? So of you flip the book over to where you can see the bar codes and the summary on the back and turn it upside down, then that's the order the pages go. It's quite strange. How does this happen?Update----Alright so it's the day after and I packaged the book in the box it came in and I am returning it for a replacement. Amazon is already shipping another one so cheers for that. But from what I understood Amazon is paying for a max of 3.99 in return shipping. Unfortunately is was $11.64 . Soo I'm guessing I'll have to pay 7.65 for their mistake.. ah well mistakes happen.Update---- Okay so now its about a week or 2 after. Amazon has received my return package and I received the new book a few days ago. Plus I got an email today saying my entire return shipping cost was refunded into my account. Cheers! Colin Comer's Sequel to his best selling Million Dollar Muscle car book is simply in my view the first Shelby book worthy of the man and his cars. More importantly even if your not a car person Comer's writing style is witty and irreverent making it an easy and fascinating historical read for anyone curious about a certified American icon. Carroll Shelby will be remembered as one of the two or three most significant people in automotive history and this book artfully takes you along for the ride on one of the best adventures anyone ever turned into a life.

This is a book about Carroll Shelby and his cars. The author does a fantastic job writing about the Shelby legend of cars during the 1960's. There is not much about Mr. Shelby's racing world but the book focuses mostly on the 1963 to 1970's Shelby cars.I did not know much about Mr. Shelby before reading this book and now have a greater understanding of what he went through in building his cars. But, wanting to know all I could about Mr. Shelby and having the book titled, "Shelby", I was left wondering what happened to Mr. Shelby and his car company during the period of 1970 to 1980's. This book will not give you that information. I was left with lots of questions as to how his business ventured from 1970 to the early 1980's. How did he end up in Las Vegas? These answers are not in this book.Even though I loved reading the book and would recommend it easily, I was left at the end of the book with some disappointment. It seems the author ran out of paper to write what happened after 1970. I know Shelby Automotive is still operating in Las Vegas, but not much is said, in relative comparison with the first 2/3's of the book, about what happened after 1970. The author seems like he was rushing to get it over with.It is a very positive and glowing report of Mr. Shelby and his cars up to 1970's. Sure there are chapters about the 1980's to present but they felt rushed and incomplete.

My only complaint is that this book was slightly repetitive. I know that there are many sources to have gleaned more insight into the prophet’s(pbuh) mercy and compassion but the same Hadith are repeated time and again. However still a great book that give great insight and perspectives on how to treat your children (and possibly others)

What an amazing and inspiring read!!Highly recommend it to everyone, with children or without! It makes you fall in love with the Prophet PBUH, His teachings , His demeanor and gives us an example worth more than any we will ever find in this world!

I just LOVE this book! I started a project as soon as the book arrived and have finished several others since. The instructions are clear,concise, and easy to follow. The stitches used are peyote, brick, and herringbone, to create AMAZINGLY beautiful and dainty beadwork gardens. I have made french-beaded (wire construction) flowers for many years and though I still enjoy the vintage-style that they create, the wire structure has never thrilled me....so this book (utilizing thread construction) really excited me, and it has delivered everything that the Vibrant Book Cover eludes to! I am especially fond of the mini flowers and have made an entire batch of "thimble bouquets" using the tiny treasures within a sewing thimble for the "flower pot". They are going to be favors for a Spring Luncheon I am hosting for my special friends and I can't wait to hear their "oohs" an "aahhs". I think if you love beadwork and exquisite flowers you will ADORE this book. It holds a place of honor in my bead box....not even admonished to the bookshelf where the majority of my 30+ beading books reside. Have fun!

The flower variety is very limited. Instructions are not easy to follow. The rose pictured in the section, A Gallery of Inspiration, is how a rose should look (NO INSTRUCTIONS). The rose presented with instructions in the main section of the book is a total disappointment.

Another fabulous book by Diane Fitzgerald! I've always wanted to know how to sew beaded flowers and this book definitely will get you started. Unfortunately, I still haven't sewn these flowers, but I certainly plan to do so in the future. I'm in a busy bead embroidery guild member that keeps me busy so many projects are awaiting my free time which there's not much of. But someday will happen, and I will be using this book to guide me. Highly recommend.

The Beaded Garden It was everything I hoped it would be. I am an experienced beader but I was looking for something that would save me time so that I wouldn't have to create designs from scratch for a beaded corsage. I was not disappointed. The diagrams are clear and easy to follow even for a beginner and the photographs are many and beautifully done. The designs are made in such a way that they can easily be adapted to your own projects. Two thumbs up! lol

I am a beader and love to make flowers to add to my creations. Unfortunately all the books I had seen on beaded flowers were for wired flowers. Not what I wanted. This book gives me what I needed. Ms Fitzgerald is a very accomplished beader and her designs are excellent.

We love every single design in this book, and the author, Diane Fitzgerald, has outdone herself this time! Flower bouquets, flower necklaces, flower brooches... flowers, flowers, and more flowers! Simple, clear diagrams with easy to read instructions... combined in the most exquisite and unique ways. What more can you ask for?I own two copies since mine are always being "borrowed," but I'm happy to have more.

Beautiful illustrations, easy to understand instructions! I purchased as a gift, now want to keep it!

I absolutely LOVED the idea of this book, and when it got here I absolutely loved to read it with the kids. We do bible study daily in our homeschool, and they are learning God's Word and truth. My point? Well... they (my kids) are now relating a child named Benjamin and some of his friends and intertwining it with the real account in the bible, and I'm just not comfortable with that. I like the story, but now when my kids are telling the story of Jesus' death and resurrection, they are now talking about how "...then Judas gave Benjamin silver..." And I'm forced to tell them "Benjamin isn't part of the REAL story...but yes, the other characters are..." I'm just not sure if this will be a part of our reading any longer, just because I cannot expect them to believe the word of God if there is a fictitious character added to it, as in this book. It's causing confusion with the Word. I suppose for us, we'll stick with the original story in the bible.I reeallllly liked this book... just cannot use it any longer. Perhaps this won't be a problem for anybody else.. but it was for us.

This story is wonderful. My 4 and 10 year olds love it. One problem - however this problem is NOT with this great book- was that after reading reviews I purchased the "Resurrection Eggs" from Family Life to go with it. The story matches up fairly well but there are a few pages that don't have eggs in that set, and there are a few eggs that don't match the pages. That is because they do NOT go together. The Resurrection Eggs are a wonderful set and have a little booklet inside that tells the story of each egg- not quite as well told as Benjamins Box. The Benjamin's Box book is an awesome book and at the top of each page shows a color of egg and a topic (I don't have it in front of me, so for example blue egg, whip). I'm not sure if there was a set of eggs at one time that was sold with this book. It doesn't matter. My 10 year old and I decided that next year, we make our own Resurrection Eggs! We will get the right color eggs and scavenge around until we can fill them to match the book and store them in an egg carton:) Then we will have two sets of Resurrection Eggs to choose from each year and two books. We are totally happy with our purchase of this book. I got my misinformation from some other reviews. But if I hadn't, we wouldn't have these two great products and a fun plan for 2015!

I purchased "The Story of the Resurrection Eggs Benjamin's Box" (ISBN 97803107155054 Zonderkidz 1997/updated 2008) as the book was clearly advertised and "designed" to be used with FamilyLife's Resurrection Eggs. I'm happy that I made that purchase because the soft-cover book that comes with the eggs is not story-like at all but rather instructional with an accurate color-coded page per egg. That said, although it's easier/nicer to use the story told in Benjamin's Box with younger kids, please/please/please note, Benjamin's Box does not/not tell the story in a way that matches up perfectly with the eggs, which presented a bit of a challenge when I read this to children for the first time (I had not reviewed the soft-cover book prior to reading Benjamin's Box - big mistake). I made it a game and we talked about what object we thought should actually be in each egg and also originally thought that maybe an object or two were missing as the objects nor the color of the eggs matched up exactly with Benjamin's Box. I later looked at the soft-cover book and found that the egg set was actually complete as per the egg product description - it just doesn't match Benjamin's Box. As Benjamin's Box is again advertised and states inside the book pg 7, "How to Use This Book, While Benjamin's Box can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story, it is designed to be used with FamilyLife's Resurrection Eggs" -- it would be nice if FamilyLife would again update either the book or the eggs so that these products actually correspond and work together. At a minimum, stop advertising that they go together - they really don't at this point. Comparison below for reference.Resurrection Eggs //// Benjamin's Book:1. Blue egg, LITTLE DONKEY //// same2. Light Pink egg, SILVER COINS //// same3. Light Purple egg, CUP //// same4. Orange egg, PRAYING HANDS //// same5. Light Green egg, NAILS IN THE CROSS //// shows YELLOW EGG with gold writing for THE NAIL (confusing as the book shows three nails in a pile not a cross)9. Purple egg, SPEAR //// shows a BLUE EGG and a PURPLE EGG for THE DIE & THE SPEAR (confusing as there are no die in the egg set and no third blue egg in the set, which would be needed here to match the book)10. Light Blue egg, LINEN CLOTH //// shows a WHITE EGG with blue writing for THE CLOTH (confusing as kids are looking for the white egg here, which is actually empty in the egg set - kids originally thought an object was missing and had to open other eggs till they found the cloth)11. Pink egg, STONE //// same12. White egg, EMPTY //// shows a BLUE EGG with blue writing for HE IS RISEN! (very confusing for kids as they are looking for a blue egg and a DOVE as is pictured in the book; the book doesn't indicate in any way that the egg they find at this point should be empty - there is no DOVE in the egg set, but there is a CHICKEN in a yellow egg that makes no sense here but the kids tried to substitute the CHICKEN for the DOVE...)Overall, I'd still recommend Benjamin's Box and the egg set, but you'll have to do some work in advance to make them work well together! Otherwise, get ready to be creative while you're reading... and explain the chicken that magically makes it's appearance as the kids discover HE IS RISEN!

Cute story and I like how it ties into the resurrection eggs. My six year old especially loved it. But since reading another reviewer who mentioned it can be confusing to tie a fictional character into a non-fictional story at the age for which this book is intended, I gave it four stars. When it comes to historical stories, I just don't want her to remember fictional details as if they were true. An older child would likely have no issue with clearly understanding. (Obviously I did explain this to her but just don't want to risk having it remain tangled up in her memory.)

I used this book in a group of children ages 5-12. Before I read the book to them I had them assemble their own set of resurrection eggs. I provided fill and thrill plastic eggs. They put items representing different portions of the Resurrection story in eggs which I had pre-numbered. As I read the book I had them just hold up their egg with the matching number for the page I was reading. The illustrations are beautiful; the story well told.
